Hi bookish friends,
I am coming back with a new Top Ten Tuesday about covers. TTT is a fun meme that was created and is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, which is now hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. Today is a freebie as long as we talk about book covers, and you know I’m a sucker for gorgeous covers. I may or may not have added some books to my TBR because I liked the cover (I’m shallow, I’m telling you). Also, to my dismay, I often decide to not buy physical copies of my favourite book just because of them, and just stick to the ebook. So today I’m giving these beauties some space to exist and to embellish your feed. Since I couldn’t narrow my choice down to only ten books, I’ll say that the last ‘T’ is standing for ‘Twelve’. That way, more covers for you and less stress for me and everyone is happy.
To be honest, I’m usually not fond of faces on covers at all (hi there, Vampire Academy), I just find them odd, like they are staring at you. Yet, I’m okay with drawings of faces (as on Sorcery of Thorns for example), but as soon as it’s a real human it kind of freaks me out. I almost want to do a ‘top-ten covers with human awkwardly/intensely looking at you in the eyes’, it might be fun, let me know if you would be interested haha. That being said, I see here that half of the books I picked have faces. Yep, I’m weird like that.
I would say that the covers that convince me the most to add a book to my TBR without having read the blurb are the ones like House of Salt and Sorrow and Girl, Serpent, Thorn. I really like the aesthetic of them and the titles are encouraging. And the lesson is that when you’re shallow, you’re punished because I absolutely HATED House of Salt and Sorrow. I also noticed that I picked 3 Cassandra Clare books, I just like the way the most recent ones look, and the copy of Clockwork Princess I own has golden details all around the book, it’s just stunning.
Do you like the covers I picked? What are your favourite ones?
I love the House of Salt and Sorrows cover, and Sorcery of Thorns. Anything in that sort of teal-range is a good bet for me!

And I do like the aesthetic of Girl, Serpent, Thorn a lot but that snake creeps me out 😭😭😭

I’m in agreement with you. Don’t like real faces on covers but okay with drawn ones. Glad to know I’m not the only one with that quirk :)))
