{ Wrap-Up } Wrapping-up my Summer 2019

7

Hello there,

This two-month wrap-up is something that I’ve never done, because, well, my life is not that interesting and I don’t read enough to make a monthly or even bimestrially. But you know what, this year is all about changes! First of all, because I’ve been wanting to share with you a french music band called L.E.J and every summer they upload a mashup of the current hits. My favourites were in 2015 & 2016, but this one is worth listening to before diving in my July-August wrap-up:

1. BOOKS

For two months in a row, I was out of my reading slump (which started back during winter 2018), I read and review the shit out of my shelves, yay! I was helped by a Summer Challenge of reading 10 books in 21 days, you can see this particular wrap up right here. I also managed to review so many books, because at the beginning of the summer I had more than 25 books on my to-review shelf, and now I’m around 10.

📖 Progress

Book read: 15
Pages read: 5,712
Average: 381 pages/book

To-review shelf: 11 books
Goodreads 2019 Challenge: 30/40 books
🤘🏼 4 books ahead of schedule 🤘🏼

  • The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen – 4 stars – My Review
  • Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor – DNF 65%
  • Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer – 5 stars – My Review
  • A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi – 4.2 stars – My Review
  • Crown of Coral and Pearl by Mara Rutherford – 4.5 stars – My Review
  • The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie – 3.5 stars
  • The Wicker King by K. Ancrum – 4.5 stars – My Review
  • Batman: Nightwalker (comic book) by Marie Lu – 3.5 stars
  • Verity by Colleen Hoover – 4.2 stars – My Review
  • Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin – 5 stars – My Review
  • The Deal by Elle Kennedy – 3.5 stars
  • All the Impossible Things by Lindsay Lackey – 4.2 stars – My Review
  • House of Salt and Sorrow by Erin A. Craig – 1.5 stars – My Review
  • The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones – 4.5 stars – My Review

+ Currently Reading: SLAY by Brittney Morris & Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston.

+ I also beta-read a book for the first time! I counted it in the number of books I read. It’s written by a co-worker and friend, it’s in French and it’s awesome. I really hope that it’ll come out and be translated in English so that you could all read it ❤

2. BOOKISH MEETINGS

Other than the BEA & BookCon, which were just awesome (met so many great friends), I had been blessed since this Summer I was lucky enough to go for coffee with two authors and meet my favourite booktuber.

  • I met Coco Ma who was spending a few days in Paris and Natasha Ngan who actually live here, and we went for coffee in the 4th arrondissement with my coworker/friend mentioned above. It was so interesting to speak about their books and see them as actual people, I had the best time. I already met Natasha two months before at BookExpo and that’s when she told me (in a perfect french) that she lived in Paris. However, I missed Coco Ma there (saw her in the Natasha line but realized only too late that it was actually her) and I was happy to catch up.

  • Emmmabooks, my favourite booktuber ever, whom I already met in BookExpo and Bookcon, came to Paris and did a meet-up. I can’t say it enough, Emma is the nicest person ever! She managed to squeeze us in her super tight schedule and every time I speak with her I feel like she is a long-time friend, she makes me feel so comfortable.

3. TRAVELLING 🌍

I didn’t go far this year, I mostly stayed in Paris actually. But I still went to Picardie for 10 days. We hiked (a lot) and had the nicest weather, here are some pictures.
