Hi there! As I posted two weeks ago, I went to BookExpo (May 30th & 31st) and BookCon (June 1st & 2nd) in New York this year and so much happened!
I’ll try to be as synthetic and as throughout as possible, so let us begin!
First thing first, I flew there from France on Wednesday (arrived around 11pm) so I missed the first day of BookExpo, and Leigh Bardugo’s Ninth House ARC drop, needless to say, I was very disappointed but I heard that the drop got almost dangerous so I’ll wait until the release date, that’s safer.
Day 1: On Thursday I arrived just in time for the opening and luckily I met my soon-to-be friend Caitlin that told me to grab her back and we actually ran in, picking up books on the floor, taking arc drop tickets, it all went really fast (I also met Hannah later that day who I can call friend as well, they helped me so much during this crazy weekend). I soon realized that I had to be more picky with the ARC so that I would be sure to read them all and not have an overweight suitcase. Here is my first-day haul:
On that day, I met Jennifer Givhan, Kalyn Josephson, Lindsay Lackey and Natasha Ngan (who actually lives less than 10 minutes drive from my place in Paris).
The upside of my day was when I ran into Emmmabooks while she was waiting on Fierce Reads line and I was so happy cause she is my favourite booktuber ever! She was so nice and when I twitter about it, she twitted back:
Day 2: On Friday, I started the day with a morning walk around New York, went to a dinner and to Bath and Body Works, I arrived a little later than the day before, as the first thing I planned was not until 10. As the show went on, I got pickier and pickier with books as I realized that things were moving too fast for my suitcase condition. Here’s my haul for day two:
I got to meet Renée Ahdieh, Frank Miller and Thomas Wheeler, and Brigid Kemmerer. I got so emotional with Brigid and she was really sweet! And I cried so much that I actually forgot to take a picture of her. I had to take another one of her books and gave away the first that wasn’t signed. I also had a glimpse of Alyssa Milano and that made me happy.
So that’s it for BookExpo, I had two wonderful days, I later learned that Sarah J. Maas was walking around the show floor and that I missed her, I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
I’ll post another separate article for BookCon in a few days so that it’s clearer.
Have you ever been to BookExpo? What did you think about it?
Link me your haul so that we can compare 🙂
