{ Wrapping Up } My November/December Project – Slaying my monstrous TBR

7

Happy New Year Everyone !

This is time to wrap up my November/December Project that I called “Slaying my monstrous TBR“. If you don’t remember, at the beginning of November, I challenged myself to down my TBR by reading books I added on it in 2014 and nothing else until the end of the year. For each book I read, I could also keep one for the following year, and as I read 8 books for this challenge, I can postpone 8 books. It also means that I had to delete 9 books (and trust me it was hard to choose).

So here it is, the result of 2 months of reading, and I’m actually really proud of myself because I followed my own rule and didn’t read a book that wasn’t on my initial list!

The books I read

Read on November 2017

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline – added on Sep 19, 2014
I really wanted to read this book before the movie came out and I’m happy I did! I had such an amazing time reading this book that I’m glad I took the time to do it – My Review

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood – added on Dec 15, 2014
I read that book and I’m super sad to say that I didn’t like it that much. The TV show was slightly better but not that amazing as I’ve been told either – My Review

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay – added on Sep 19, 2014
I wasn’t even really planning to read this book but Jasmine advised me to and I’m happy I did because it went straight to my favourites – My Review

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini – added on Dec 15, 2014
Surprisingly, beautiful and interesting reading experience, totally out of my comfort zone but I enjoyed it nonetheless – My Review

Read on December 2017

Wonder by R.J. Palacio – added on Sep 19, 2014
I’m always hesitant to read MG books but I liked this one! I’m happy I’ve read it as it just came out in the movie theatre so now I can go see it – My Review

Making Faces by Amy Harmon – added on Nov 03, 2014
I always hate it when I strongly dislike a book. Especially when I buddy read it. Here I did both – My Review

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – added on Apr 08, 2014
It was my second try at this book, and I’m happy I gave it another chance. It was really good even though it took me two weeks to get through it – My Review

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens – added on Dec 15, 2014
I’m not planning to review this book. Overall, it was okay and good for Christmas time, but it didn’t convince me that much.

The books I’m deleting

Forbidden
by Tabitha Suzuma – added on Apr 08, 2014
I love ‘forbidden love’ but here I read the synopsis and it seems too close to Taboo for me and I’m not sure I’ll handle it.

The Selection by Kiera Cass – added on Aug 03, 2014
I have to stop kidding myself, I’m pretty sure I won’t like this book, it’s not because it’s famous that I have to read it.

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier – added on Nov 18, 2014
I like reading books in their original languages and I don’t speak German, so I decided to delete this one.

The Giver by Lois Lowry – added on Dec 15, 2014
Once again, it’s not because a book is famous that I HAVE to read it.

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers – added on Nov 05, 2014
A choice by deduction. The average rating is not that good, the synopsis is not convincing me enough.

Graceling by Kristin Cashore – added on Jul 24, 2014
I added this book for the wrong reasons, and if I have to chose I’d rather keep another book than this one.

The Princess Bride by William Goldman – added on Apr 08, 2014 –
I added this book because of How I Met Your Mother and it’s not a good enough reason to make it to the postponed books.

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck – added on Dec 15, 2014
I own this book since 2007, it’s one of the shortest book I own and yet I haven’t read it yet. It’s time to let it go.

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell – added on Dec 15, 2014
I had a hard time deciding to delete this one, it was so difficult to put it in this category, but it’s too long and I know for sure that I won’t read it anytime soon just because of that.

The books I’m keeping/postponing

Because I already own them:

25437891 16068905 21851572

Because I really want to give them a chance:

6547258 15839976 60510 10210 1953

So that’s it for today! I’m happy I did this challenge and I’m proud of myself for sticking to my challenge. I also took your comment on my project post into account to choose the book to keep and the books I ended up deleting.

    1. Thank you!! You’re right I feel waaaay lighter ^^ I’m glad I forced myself to choose and this challenge made me realise that the less book I have the more easily I can choose what to read next 😛
