This is actually my first FairyLoot box, but I’m so glad I decided to buy it! This month theme was what made me make this leap because those three words ‘all the sass’… I didn’t need any more information about that box. You can find below the description in the newsletter I received that actually made me decide to order this box:
“Do you love sassy characters? Characters that make you laugh out loud? Characters that are full of spirit and are cheeky, lively and bold?
The September ‘All That Sass’ box is inspired by our favourite sassy characters in YA! You can expect items themed on a certain blue eyed shadowhunter in The Infernal Devices, a certain high warlock in The Mortal Instruments, a blonde haired assassin in Throne of Glass, a green eyed demi-god in Percy Jackson, a sassy prince and captain from The Grisha Trilogy, as well as a couple more sassy characters that we’ll hint to in social media posts…
The book we’re featuring is full of sassy characters, adventure, evil witches, ghosts, high stakes and has some fantastic plot twists! We read this book in one sitting – it simply blew us away! It will come with a signed bookplate and letter from the author, and the FairyLoot edition will have EXCLUSIVE FOILING on the title of the cover! That’s right, only the FairyLoot edition will have this – the standard edition won’t!
For now we’re only going to reveal one supplier and that is the wonderful In The Wick of Time! Every box will have a tin candle created by Kaylan exclusively for this box. What’s more is people that purchase or subscribe to the September ‘All That Sass’ box will be the only people able to purchase a full size version of this candle – it’s a FairyLoot exclusive! How awesome is that? Stay tuned for more exciting supplier reveals over the next couple of weeks on our social media platforms!
Doesn’t this sound amazing? We’ve been so excited to share this theme with you as it’s a little different to what we’ve done in the past and we hope you’re as excited as we are!”
Indeed it sounded amazing, and they weren’t faking it, as the result was phenomenal.
Spoilers for the actual content of this box below that point:
Here’s the content of my box
I’m not very good at taking picture, I actually opened it at 4 A.M on Sunday morning, the lighting wasn’t good, the angle either, but I was so eager to use my content that I didn’t have the time to take a better picture afterwards. I’ll do better next time
Can you believe your eyes? I thought i was dreaming in front of so much wonderful items. I’ll describe below the items I got:
The first thing that I saw in the box was a beanie!! The funny part is that when I opened the box, it was on my first day back from my Irish trip and during that trip I’ve been looking for a cute beanie for the two weeks I was there. I’ve been so happy that I didn’t find it, because that beanie is just perfect. Black with great material, lovely pompom at the tom and onto the front is sewn ‘Rattle the Stars‘. It’s inspired by the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. The cute surprise is that the beanie is made by Brittney from Reverie and Ink, who I buddy read A Court of Mist and Fury from the same author and she was the one who designed the image on top of my blog, so if you come by Brittney, that beanie is my favorite item in this box, I wear it everyday, great work girl ❤
The second item I discovered and which is also one of my favorite is a candle from In the Wick of Time. I have a crazy history with bookish candles as I live in France, and every time I want to order some from the US, the shipping price is twice the price of the candles themselves. One day I found a British bookish candle maker, so I directly ordered 10 candles from her. That was 6 months ago, and I’ve never received them despite the many requests to the seller. So you can imagine my joy when I, who thought I had to drop bookish candles forever, received one in that box. It’s named High Warlock and is inspired by Magnus Bane from basically any book Cassandra Clare had written. The scent is perfect, accurate AF and it smells so good, now I have to decide if I actually burn it or just keep it as a decorating item.
The third item I found in that box is the perfect magnet that says “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good”. For those who don’t know, it’s inspired by Fred & George Weasley from Harry Potter. This is still a tender subject to me and when I saw that magnet, I paused and I tear came from my eye. I didn’t expect that, especially as the design is so gorgeous. I stopped my unboxing and went to put it on my fridge right away.
Then I took in the box a Vegan Hot Chocolate inspired by Percy Jackson from Rick Riordan. Now, even though I’m not a fan of Percy Jackson’s book, I’m happy we got that hot chocolate for two reasons:
1. I heard many complaining that bookish box had too much coffee (that I don’t drink at all) or tea (that I don’t drink much), and I’m happy that my first one had Hot Chocolate which is my favorite hot drink.
2. I’m actually trying to have a more ecologically responsable / animal friendly way to eat since a few weeks, and this Vegan Hot Chocolate helps me fulfilling that. I’m so excited to try it.
One of the biggest surprises from this box was the tote bag, I’m in love with Will Herondale from The Infernal Device by Cassandra Clare, but I often feel like he is kind of underrated, and I’m so happy that we have A BAG to honor him and his sassiness. Funny thing is that next Saturday (October 14th) I’m going to the Frankfurt Book Fair specially to meet Cassandra Clare, and be sure I’ll carry my Lord of Shadows copy in that tote bag in hope that she will sign it.
Last but not least of the item (outside of the many gorgeous art prints) is a notebook inspired by Nikolai Lantsov from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I love notepad but I don’t have that many, I’m super picky because they have to be exactly the way I want them to be. This one is just perfect, the artwork is stunning, simple and yet beautiful. The quote “Anything worth doing starts with a bad idea” is the perfect link between Nikolai’s character and the notepad in itself. Well done.
Last but not least you can find the book of the month which is Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett. As always it came with a signed bookplate and letter from the author. I’ve never heard of this book before, so I have no idea what to expect from it, but you can have a preview with the following synopsis
“Kamzin has always dreamed of becoming one of the Emperor’s royal explorers, the elite climbers tasked with mapping the wintry, mountainous Empire and spying on its enemies. She knows she could be the best in the world, if only someone would give her a chance.
But everything changes when the mysterious and eccentric River Shara, the greatest explorer ever known, arrives in her village and demands to hire Kamzin—not her older sister Lusha, as everyone had expected—for his next expedition. This is Kamzin’s chance to prove herself—even though River’s mission to retrieve a rare talisman for the emperor means climbing Raksha, the tallest and deadliest mountain in the Aryas. Then Lusha sets off on her own mission to Raksha with a rival explorer who is determined to best River, and Kamzin must decide what’s most important to her: protecting her sister from the countless perils of the climb or beating her to the summit.
The challenges of climbing Raksha are unlike anything Kamzin expected—or prepared for—with avalanches, ice chasms, ghosts, and even worse at every turn. And as dark secrets are revealed, Kamzin must unravel the truth of their mission and of her companions—while surviving the deadliest climb she has ever faced.”
My buddy reading code is #FairyLoot125587 don’t hesitate to contact me if you share it with me, I’d be happy to have a reading friend for this one.
What do you thing about that box? Did you order it?
I already ordered next months box which is themed Villainous which will probably be totally coherent with my October project. I’m still hesitating to order the November box entitled Ladies That Slay because even though the theme is attractive, I don’t feel really connected to the characters represented in that box. I’ll think about it.
